KYNO, the all-in-one media management app, is officially available

Earlier this year, I wrote about Lesspain’s KYNO, a brand-new piece of software that looks to fill the void between your camera and the editing suite. As of now, it’s officially out of beta and ready for action.

In case you missed that first article about the workflow tool, here’s a quick recap of what KYNO is and what it does. Basically, it’s a standalone app for Mac that performs a wide array of media management tasks. It allows you to view all of your footage (no matter where it’s located or how it’s formatted) in a variety of useful ways, batch, label, and rename it, add and manipulate metadata, export still frames, and of course, transcode it to various edit-friendly formats. There’s plenty more that the software does, but that’s the core functionality.

As I mentioned in the original article, there are a few things that KYNO doesn’t do. Perhaps the biggest one is that the program doesn’t support any RAW media flavor, which could very well be a deal-breaker for many of the people shooting on modern digital cinema cameras. That said, it looks like the developers are planning on adding RAW support in the future, so keep your eyes peeled if that’s important to you.
