Undoubtedly, the creator economy’s rise has shifted attitudes toward content creation in the industry and beyond. Content creation is now a career in its own right.

We recently conducted a creator survey, and 60% of the creators we spoke to said they create between 2-10 videos per month, 20% said 11-40, and around 7% upload over 40. This tells us that many video creators no longer consider the practice a hobby. Instead, it’s a profitable side hustle for some and, for others, a career.

While YouTube is still dominating for longer-form video content, the power of TikTok for short-form videos cannot be understated. Many TikTokers have seen enormous success on the platform, with some even creating their merchandise, careers, and more after being discovered on the forum.

TikTok sees the relationship between its creators and the platform as mutually beneficial and wants to reward them for their creativity, helping to make the platform as entertaining and engaging as possible.

This week they’ve added two ways for creators to monetize their content on TikTok. They’ve said about the announcement.

“As we continue to explore and introduce more ways to reward all types of creators on TikTok and their hard work and creativity, we’re excited to add even more offerings to our diverse range of monetization features to further help our creators unlock real-world opportunities and grow their careers in a way that’s most authentic to them.”

What are the two new monetization opportunities?

TikTok has introduced two new programs — Effect Creator Rewards and the Creativity Program Beta. Here’s what we know so far.

Effect Creator Rewards

Augmented Reality effects (learn more about augmented reality here) are a large part of what makes creating and interacting with video content on TikTok so fun. Effect creators can flex their creativity, design, publish, and share high-quality AR effects for TikTok.

These third-party creators now have the chance to be financially rewarded for the effects they create and share on the platform. These effects have spanked trends, shaped culture, and inspired people to keep creating content for the platform.

The Effect Creator Rewards program, is a new 6 million dollar fund for creators in some regions. It will offer creators payment for their effects based on the community’s engagement. So basically, if a creator develops an impact, the more popular it is on the platform, the more revenue they can earn.

How much can I earn in the Effect Creator Reward program?

TikTok has announced that at the program’s launch, for every effect that’s used in 500k unique videos within 90 days of being published, a creator will collect USD 700. For every 100K video posted after that in the same 90 days, they can earn another USD 140.

Creativity Program

Earlier in the year, TikTok announced a Beta program, and now they’ve opened it up to all creators. After speaking to participants and fine-tuning their offerings, they designed the program to empower creators to explore, earn more money, and unlock exciting real-world opportunities.

There are a few things to consider If you want to participate in the program:

– You must be based in Britain, France, or the United States
– Have a TikTok account in “good standing.”
– Have at least 10,000 followers, with a minimum of 100k views in the last 30 days
– Your videos need to be high-quality, original content, and no longer than 1 minute

That seems like a tall order, but with millions of people creating video content every day – the competition is fierce. The good news is that if you can crack the eligibility criteria, you could be well on your way to earning money on TikTok.
