Each month the Artlist team collates a list of music to spotlight a different mood. Our specially selected lists will save our users time and create a go-to catalog of tracks for filmmakers to return to whenever they like. So far, we’ve covered playfulness, romance and even the perfect tracks for background music. This month we’re in the mood for some groove, so read on for the best groovy tracks in Artlist’s musical catalog.

Youthful

Surfing Time” by Lux-Inspira is a pop song that’s guaranteed to lift the mood and add a sense of fresh life and youthful freedom to your project or film. Using a mixture of upbeat percussion and feel-good synths, the track oozes optimism, sunshine and adventure.

Everleigh Rose is a 4-year-old YouTube superstar with the same charisma levels as a veteran T.V. presenter. She used “Surfing Time” to accompany a video of her spending 24 hours in her pool. The music adds a sense of youth and fun to the video and is a great way to appeal to Everleigh’s young subscriber base. Check out this blog post if you’d like some help picking the right song for your project.

Theme Music

If you’re on the lookout for some theme music for a series or show you’re producing, look no further than “Weekands” by Sunny Fruit. The track is so catchy and memorable that no one will forget your project, and your audience will automatically associate those upbeat, grooving keys with your series.

Amixem is a YouTube channel with over 7 million subscribers. The channel follows four French friends as they travel around the world trying new things, eating new foods and sharing a lot of banter (in French, of course). And they chose “Weekands” as the music to end all of their YouTube videos, which is good news for Sunny Fruit – now he has millions of new fans!

Fashion

A fashion-focussed film needs a soundtrack as groovy as its content, and we think “Papi Beat” by Kicktracks is the perfect song for the job. The track is a blend of electronica and hip-hop, which creates an unexpected beat and forward-thinking feel – a great way to showcase future-facing creativity.

Kappahl is a fashion chain that prides itself on offering great clothing for all occasions – parties, everyday wear or casual recreation. They used Kicktracks’ song to accompany their adverts of a young man and a young woman wearing a variety of their clothes for a ton of different occasions. The fun and funky track creates a colorful mood to match the colorful clothes. To match music with your video, read our article about how to edit music in your video.

Montage

Ah, the montage scene: every rom-com and comedy director’s favorite. But don’t let selecting the music hold you back – we have the perfect montage track with “Keep Movin’ Along” by MILANO. The essence of the track creates a sense of movement and progression, with the rock/pop elements adding an atmosphere of grit and adventure.

The track was used in a Sport Bible video shared by leading business influencer Tansu Yegen. The montage video shows a group of friends completing the Water Cup challenge. They take it in turns to pour water into a cup until it overflows – and the person who causes it to overflow gets thrown into the pool. “Keep Movin’ Along” adds a sense of fun and tension throughout the video.

Party time

It’s time to let loose and get in the groove with a track perfect for partying. “Sunny Days” by Raz Burg embodies a sense of excitement and fun, the ideal accompaniment to a spring break sunset or a wild after-party. The mixture of piano, synths and electronica screams youth, freedom and joy.

The Royalty Family is a YouTube family of 4 based in L.A. with over 17 million subscribers sharing the ups and downs of family life and the many adventures they go on together. The YouTube celebs used Raz Burg’s track to accompany a video showcasing their son Ferran’s 11th birthday. In the video, Ferran’s parents surprise him with a huge carnival party in his backyard, and “Sunny Days” confirms it’s most definitely party time.

Summer-time

Is there any season more groovy than summer? So it’s time to whip out the sun beds and celebrate the sunshine with “You Know You Want It” by ORKAS. The indie-pop song seems to embody summer, no doubt aided by the sound of whistles, electric guitar and upbeat punk vocals.

The track was used by Brazilian superfood brand Oakberry in an Instagram advertorial to promote their collaboration with World Surf League Brasil. The track plays alongside an animated woman riding a bike with a surfboard, then surfing with a smoothie in her hand. The bright colors and playful animation perfectly suit ORKAS’ carefree sound.

Food

Does your film focus on food? Then have a listen to “So Happy I Could Die” by John Coggins. It’s a carefree, grooving track that embodies that moment you tuck into a delicious meal after a long day. Play this track alongside a kid eating ice cream, a cooking tutorial or a couple enjoying a tasty lunch, and your food scene will be complete.

Recipe channel Cookist seems to agree. They used the track in their tutorial to make homemade kebabs, from prepping the chicken to creating the sauce to deep-frying it to get the delicious end result. John Coggins’ track adds an element of fun and play and sets the pace for the video. Now, anyone else suddenly hungry?
